If you’ve dreamed of living ocean front, of sleeping to the sounds of the waves, of walking to the beach at any moment……it doesn’t get much better than the Esplanade of Redondo Beach.

Due to zoning allowing some much larger condo complexes  South Redondo has some fantastic ocean front condos at prices more affordable than you might think.

Located along the world famous Esplanade, The Ocean Plaza building is located at 531 Esplanade, just south of King Harbor and the Redondo Beach Pier area, and a short distance to the charming retail and dining area of Riviera Village.  

The first building as you head south is located at 531 Esplanade and is known as the Ocean Plaza. This building features a pool, workout room and is located on the bluffs in South Redondo. Although oceanfront, most of the units at 531 Esplanade are at an angle and do not look straight out on the ocean. While you don’t quite get the “right on top of the sand” feeling that you do in some of the other buildings….it’s generally priced a bit lower with larger units. All units in 531 have some views with units higher up having more dramatic and unobstructed views.

The building does have some true “ocean front” units which are rare but there is often one of the units on the north or south side of the building and most offer pretty stunning views of the beach and ocean.  The north facing units have great views of King Harbor and the Redondo Pier and the south facing units have views of PV and the coastline.  All units are accessible through the inside of the building which some owners like, but units are down a rather dark hallway.

565 Esplanade offers one to two bedrooms condos with the majority of the condos being one bedroom units generally around 700-800 square feet.  Two bedroom units are much larger as range between anywhere from 1,050 to 1,427 square feet.  Built in 1971, there are 64 units with the majority having “partial” ocean views.

HOA dues are generally around $563 as of 2025 and the complex offers an oceanfront spa but no pool.
