Oceanfront condos at the Sand Castle in South Redondo
If you happen to be in the beachfront or oceanfront condo market in South Redondo Beach there are definitely some choices for you as there are now 4 condos for sale just in the Sand Castle building which is located at 615 Esplanade. The configuration of the Sand Castle requires a bit of info as there are two buildings so most views are unbelievable but some are limited. The front (beach fronting) building has floors 1-4 so other than a few 1st floor units that are somewhat blocked by the sloping terrain in front, the units in this building are really oceanfront. The rear building offers floors 5-8 with the 5th floor being blocked considerably but the roof of the front building. The 6th floor has great ocean views but not really direct sand views. So higher isn’t necessarily better in the Sand Castle, but every unit has some true ocean views.

We don’t have much information on this incredible condo as it sold before it hit the market. 1000 Esplanade is not beach front, but there are no buildings on the west side of Esplanade in this areas so the views are unobstructed and unbelievable.

The newest additon to the beachfront condo market is located in the Ocea Plaza complex which is the tallest in South Redondo. Although the building is oceanfront, most of the units are on the north or south side of the building so the units themselves are not really oceanfront (other than a few that are on the furthest west side)

Unit 708 is a 2 level condo that overlooks the Casa Bahia building (which is considerably shorter) on the south side of the building which means some beautiful ocean, beach and Palos Verdes views.
Somewhat strangely the owners converted this two bedroom condo into a 1 bedroom home (big bedrooms are cool but we would not recommend making this change for other homeowners out there…..at least not for future value aspects) Having said that the one remaining primary suite is huge and the walls of windows, and oceanview deck don’t hurt. It even has 2 bathrooms….odd.
The bedroom is upstairs so the downstairs is all about kitchen, living and dining area…..with views from everywhere.
The building and amenities of Ocean Plaza feel a little bit older and outdated, but it’s just tough to be the location and with an oceanview pool deck….it’s all good.

The newest additon to the beachfront condo market is a good one. If truly feeling beachfront and oceanfront is the priority, the condos in 721 and 727 Esplanade are tough to beat. Unfortunately units rarely come up in either. This newest unit is on the 4th floor and the views are staggering. You feel more like youre on a cruise ship high above the waves than you feel like you’re in a condo.

The home shows on the tax records as a 3 bedroom but listed as a 2 bedroom + den/office. The lower bedroom is spacious and private.
The main level offers soaring ceilings with massive windows to capture the light and the incredible views out front. Main level also features the galley style kitchen, oceanfront living and dining room as well as the office and laundry closet.
The upstairs loft suite, accessible via a narrow spiral staircase, doesn’t quite feel like the primary due to it being somewhat open to the room below, but it offers a huge closet, bath and nice ocean views. This level also features a private patio on the roof top deck (no views unfortunately)
The home slightly dated but we’re not sure that really matters as the features that feel a bit older don’t matter much when the views are what you’re paying for.
The amenities of Riviera shores are limited, but the complex does have a jacuzzi and sauna.
The condo had been listed in 2019 for $1,600,000 but did not sell and was eventually pulled off of the market.

The newest additon to the beachfront condo market is actually not new, but relisted. If the address sounds familiar it’s because it was on the market last year. The home was pulled off of the market late 2023 and in somewhat of an unusual strategy they’ve raised the price from the previous $1,650,000 (that didn’t sell)

The condo is beautiful and the living room and the patio are the highlights. Oceanfront living room has gotten a nice update with stacked stone fireplace that has a beautiful beach look. The layout is a bit unusual as there bedrooms and living spaces are on different levels, but spaces are all nicely updated and remodeled and the views are incredible. The ground level location makes for a very oversized patio to sit back, hear the sounds of the waves just outfront, and live the vacation lifestyle.
As mentioned the condo was recently remodeled and includes beautiful wood floors, quartz countertops, updated lighting, built ins,, gas starting fireplace with a floor to ceiling stone front. All with a coastal inspired color palette.
The condo last sold in 2020 for $1,325,000 with some, but not all, of the remodeling already done.
